2014 NBA Finals Recap

With it being a day removed, and your new 2014 NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs defeating the Miami Heat, it creates a mystery for the off-season because the Big 3 in Miami , LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh can opt out of their contracts and become free agents. The Heat have gone to 4 straight finals, since the Wade, James and Bosh era began in 2010-11 and LeBron's highly controversial "The Decision" , and leaving his hometown franchise and team of  the Cleveland Cavaliers. But now, we fast forward to the Spurs winning their 5th franchise title and last title since the Tim Ducan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginboili/ Poppovich era. The Spurs also have a rising star in Kawhi Leonard, who was named NBA Finals MVP at the age of 22. The last person to win an NBA Finals MVP on the Spurs at 22 , was Tim Duncan. It seems it has all come full -circle for the Spurs and they did it their way, with team-oriented basketball. However, they would not have gotten to this point if they didn't face a heartbreaking loss in the Miami Heat last year, after having a 3-2 leading lead on the series. But, the Spurs unraveled and the pressure had mounted on , which provided a hero moment for LeBron James and the Miami Heat, taking Games 6 and 7. They went on to win their second straight NBA title, and third as a franchise.
But let's take a look back at the Heat and their beloved/hated status for starting the MegaSuperTeam in 2010 and how somewhat of a karma has gotten them in 2011 and now. Israel Guttirrez provides an insightful analysis on the Miami Heat and their unpredictable off-season.

Overall, Congrats to the Spurs!! They deserved the title, and I hope they can compete for at least one more title before the Duncan/Parker/Ginobili/Poppovich Era is done. As for King James and the Heat, they must think about some tough decisions heading into next season and the future.
