The Amazing Spiderman 2 Review

I watched the much anticipated Amazing Spiderman 2 with Andrew Garfield as Spiderman, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and the villian Electro, played by Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti as The Rhino. However, this movie sucked ass. It starts off with Peter Parker doing his spiderly duties , while meanwhile , he's running late for his own highschool graduation. He makes it and his identity is saved and makes out with his valedictorian girlfriend Gwen Stacy. If that is isn't cliche , then I do not know what is. Yet, trouble arises because Peter is reluctant about their future together as a couple because most of his time is occupied as a masked vigilante in red and blue spandex , saving New York City. So, he breaks up with her and she gets all emotional and stuff. Then, as the movie goes along, it introduces Jamie Foxx's character , who is an engineer as Oscorp, run by Mr.Oscorp , who is dying and his son, Harry, comes in to salvage the company , and lead it into a new direction.

X-Men comes back and does not disappoint

X-Men Days of future past comes back into forefront as the top-superhero movie at the moment. It grossed 302 million dollars worldwide, in this opening week, topping Avatar (2009). The intense action throughout every scene and dramatic plot-line, continuing from the last movie, X-Men: First Class (2011).  It combines the X-men favorites such as Wolverine, Storm, Beast , Magnito and Professor Xavier. But, it also has the new X-men , who are the younger versions of themselves, including  Professor Xavier, Magnito , Beast and Mystique. In the new film, it focuses on Mystique, who played a vital role in the destruction of the human society around the 1970s, bringing the mutant destruction of humans and new robot-mutants based on her DNA, who take over the world in the future. The whole cast must come to together and stop Mystique and create the intended mutant and human integrated future. Chef , directed by John Favreau

I just watched the movie , Chef, directed by John Favreau. I must say it was great due to its comedy, dramatic intensity and culturally diverse with the latin-american representation, with actors John Leguizamo and Sofia Vergara. In the film, Favreau plays a renouned Los Angeles chef who made his way to the top, from Miami. Yet, he is troubled with losing artistic integrity as a chef, and being forced to conform to simple-dining by his boss, Dustin Hoffman. Meanwhile, Favreau must also deal with relationship issues , being divorced from his wife, Inez, played by Vergara and dealing with the co-parenting of his son.  Favreau's, character finally breaks and loses control, he leaves his job as a top-chef and eventually with deep thought and recommendations from family and friends, decides to open a food truck, titled El Jefe ,( The Boss),  filled with Cuban-American and American cuisine with longtime pal, Martin, played by Leguizamo and his son. They tour from coast to coast and word

NBA Western Conference Finals Spurs v. Thunder

The San Antonio Spurs  have a commanding 2- 0 lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder, in the Western Conference Finals. The Spurs however, are not satisfied with their lead. In 2012, the Spurs were in the same position against the Thunder in the Western Conference Finals, but the Thunder came back to win the series , with the talent of  Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. I believe the Thunder will put up a fight in the series, since the Thunder head back home and MVP Kevin Durant will not be out-shined on their home-court. Hopefully, the Thunder will bounce back and make a case for the NBA Finals.  Yet, the Thunder must respect the pedigree of the Spurs and excellent teamwork, in a superstar-driven NBA. Game 3 will start on Sunday at 8:30 pm on TNT Watch this video clip : http://www.viralhoops.com/even-youre-spurs-fan-video-will-allow-appreciate-beautifully-play/#.U3-snvldU4c

"White Elephants" Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel Segment

After watching the latest episode of HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, a segment that intrigued me the most was called "White Elephants". As Brazil prepares for the World Cup next month and the Olympics in about 18 months, they have undergone extreme construction of its stadiums and athletic facilities . However, where is all of this money coming from, since they Brazilian government isn't known as an economic powerhouse? Also, what will happen to these stadiums once the World Cup and Olympics are over? What will most likely happen is that the facilities will not be used and they will deteriorate over time. The citizens of Brazil will suffer more socio-economic hardship and the money used to build the stadiums will have practically been a waste. This is called a White Elephant.  Also, White Elephants have occurred in the past, with the 2004 Olympic Games in Greece, their stadiums now are not used and their economy has suffered as a result of funding for the games.

Eastern Conference Finals Game 2 ( Heat v. Pacers)

The Miami Heat look to capture their 3rd NBA Championship and 4th Eastern Conference Champ title in 4 years. However, there's this team called the Indiana Pacers that look to get to the finals , after losing to the Heat last year in Game 7. The Pacers , with Paul George and Roy Hibbert sealed the deal and won against the favored Heat. LeBron James scored 25 points and 10 rebounds , but that wont be enough for the 4-time MVP and back-to back champ.  Tonight, in Game 2 , The Heat must step up the defensive intensity and eliminate the Pacer's outside shooting. As for the Pacers, the must continue to isolate James and spread the ball and Roy Hibbert and George must come through as a dynamic duo.  The Heat should rebound and take Game 2 . SNL Finale Review

The SNL Finale was nothing short of amazing. Andy Samberg just oozes comedic gold in his performance.  The most memorable skits from the show are Blizzard Man, Confident Hunchback, and Legolas from The Hobbit ordering at Taco Bell , and Andy's Nick Cage Sitdown with Paul Rudd.  Other former SNL castmembers appeared in the show , such as Kristen Wiig, Fred Armisen, Bill Hader ,Seth Meyers  and Maya Rudolph. Samberg and the former cast members just seemed to pick up where they left off. Samberg and his Lonely Island crew debuted a new song entitled, "Hugs". Overall, it was a great performance and will have you laughing throughout the show. http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/may-17-andy-samberg/2781598

Saturday Night Live Finale

The season finale of Saturday Night Live has finally arrived. Tonight's guest will be Andy Samberg, an SNL alum and Golden Globe Winner. The show should be hilarious since Samberg is familiar with the show and the cast members . Maybe he will reprise some of his old skits such as Lazy Sunday , Captain Jack Sparrow Motherlover, and some collaborations with his parody rap group, The Lonely Island.  The show will be great and check it out and receive your last fixing  of SNL for the summer. Fresh Off The Boat on ABC

The all new Asian-American family sitcom is finally coming to network television. Fresh Off the Boat , chronicles celebrity chef, Ed Wong and his life as child of Asian-American immigrants transitioning in American life. The show will premiere on ABC. I love this show's concept and hope it does well on national television.  There needs to be more Asian representation in television and film. Not just the stereotypical Asians on television, who are owners of a liquor store, or Chinese restaurant , with goofy accents.  I hope this paves the way for more Asians in television and film.  I would like to see more Asians on shows such as Saturday Night Live or late-night talk shows , such as Jimmy Fallon, David Letterman or Jimmy Kimmel Live .  I hope that Fresh Off The Boat  sails to success. The Playoff Run Ends for DC

Well, this is bitter-sweet, but the Wizards have run out of magic in these playoffs. They lost to the Indiana Pacers, 93-80, and they will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat. This will be a rematch of last year's conference finals. However, as for the Wizards, the have nothing to be ashamed of. After only winning 29 games last season, and dramatically improving this season with 44 wins and 5th place in the Eastern Conference. The Wizards have excellent young talent with John Wall and Bradley Beal, which serve as their foundation , and with the great frontcourt play of Nene, Gortat and Ariza, they were a force to be reckoned with.  As a lifetime DC sports fan, i have seen so many horrible seasons in the nations' capital, but I can't wait for next season, with more draft picks , the progression of Otto Porter and hopefully resigning free agents Marcin Gortat and Trevor Ariza. Talent-wise , the Wizards are the 3rd best team in the east and with mor

Wizards / Pacers Game 6

The Wizards look to take Game 6 tonight in the Verizon Center.  I feel it is plausible for the Wizards to win tonight because of the defensive intensity and rebounding, shown in Game 5.  The Wizards should win this game tonight and with Wall, Beal, Gortat, and Ariza playing at a high level. Watch tonight at 7pm on ESPN Go Wizards!!!! DC Rising!!!

Wizards Bounce Back in Game 5

The Washington Wizards bounce back from a disappointing loss in Game 4 and keep their playoff hopes alive. They crushed the Indiana Pacers, 102-79. This was due to a spark from John Wall, Marcin Gortat and Bradley Beal. Gortat scored 31 points and 16 rebounds . Wall with 27 points and Beal with 18 points.  Another major key to Washington's success was rebounding. Washington had 62 rebounds and the Pacers only had 23 rebounds. The Wizards head back to DC and play at 8pm in the Verizon Center. GO WIZARDS!!! DC RISING!!!

Wizards vs Pacers Game 5

The Washington Wizards face the brink of elimination. On a Game 4 that the should have won and tied the series 2-2, ended up being a 3-1 Pacers lead. The Wizards need to close out games and their youth is beginning to show in the playoffs. However, I have not given up on the Wizards and Wall and Beal need to get going with ball movement and pick and role play. The Wizards also need to shut down Roy Hibbert. He has come back into All-Star form, Nene, and Gortat must double-team Hibbert and get aggressive. Its do or die time for the Wizards and I believe they will extend the series tonight!! GO WIZARDS!!! DC RISING!!!

Spiderman 2 Review

After watching Spiderman 2, I was somewhat dissappointed in the film. The plot was predicatable. Peter Parker has new obstacles, including solving the mystery of his father's death and the secret Oscorp project. Meahwile, and old friend, Harry Osborne takes over the company , after his father's sudden death.  Parker who must deal with the responsibilities of being Spiderman and also manage his relationship between his highschool sweetheart , Gwen Stacy.  Nemesis also rise with Electro, and The Rhino , who want to stop Spiderman in his tracks.  Overall, the action was intense but it could be more suspensful. The next movie should bring more intrigue.  Rating: 7.4/10

Pacers/Wizards Game 3

The series is all tied up at 1-1. The Wizards had won the opening game , the Pacers responded. Now, the series heads back to Washington.  I expect the Wizards to bounce back and win tonight. Wall and Beal will get going from the start of the game. The Wizards also need some bench scoring to come up big tonight. I would like to see some scoring from Booker, and Gooden. Overall, tonight should be a good game and let's keep the Wizards' magic going. GO WIZARDS!! DC Rising!!

Game 2 Wizards vs. Pacers

The Wizards look to win another game in Indianpolis tonight against the Indiana Pacers. Can the House of Guards, Bradley Beal and John Wall shut down Paul George and Roy Hibbert again? The Wizards certainly have the upper hand and look to take the life out of this series , with a potential 2-0 lead, heading back to Washington on Friday. Tune in tonight at 7pm on TNT for some exciting playoff basketball! Go Wizards!! DC Rising!!!

Wizards Win Game 1 vs Pacers

The Washington Wizards are now only 3 wins away from three Eastern Conference Finals. The Wizards won in convincing fashion, 102-96. At least 5 Wizard players were scored double digits and it was a great all around team effort. Washington's defense shut down big man Roy Hibbert, scoring 0 points and no rebounds. Also, Paul George had a relatively quiet game.  The magic has not run out for the Wizards and they look to win Game 2 in Indiana tomorrow.  GO WIZARDS!! DC Rising!! Wizards v. Pacers (2nd Round of NBA Playoffs)

On to the second round! The Washington Wizards received a great amount of rest and look to beat the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the second round.  The game starts at 7 on TNT and it should be exciting! The Pacers faced a tough battle against the Atlanta Hawks as an 8th seed. The Pacers were struggling in the last months of the season and after this win, they seem to return to form. Meanwhile, the Wizards have had momentum leading into the playoffs and defeated the Bulls in 5 games. Playoff newbies John Wall, and Bradley Beal have come of age and haven't looked back.  So go watch Game 1 Monday night @ 7pm on TNT! Go Wizards! DC Rising!!
