Ray Rice Suspended from NFL Indefinitely
Former Baltimore Ravens running back, Ray Rice has been released from the Ravens and suspended from the NFL indefinitely. This is due to his videos of him domestically abusing his fiancee ,and originally was TMZ Sports leaked a recent video yesterday of him clearly abusing his wife , knocking her unconscious. This is absolutely disgusting and deserves this punishment. Rice also cannot play in any other football leagues , such as the Canadian Football League, (CFL). Rice must face the consequences of his actions and reevaluate his marriage, character and manhood. As for Rice's future, it remains uncertain but hopefully he seeks counseling and puts football aside at the moment , which has been done for him. Janay Palmer, Rice's wife, has come to his defense and asks that the media has costs Rice's " career", and that " we seek privacy as we work on this family matter." However, I'm dissapointed in the NFL being reactionary in not suspending Rice sooner and for the Baltimore Ravens not cutting Rice, had the new video not been released , Rice probably still would have played in the NFL in two weeks and act as if nothing happened. Also, the videos were held since FEb. 15th at a casino at Atlantic City , NJ and Commisoner Roger Goodell must have seen this videos and to originally suspend him only 2 games, while Browns Wide Reciever Josh Gordon, was suspended a year for substance abuse ( marijuana). Not that substance abuse is better but there must be more regulation in place for instances like Rice's never happen again. Goodell placed new regulation in regards to domestic violence , 6 games for first time offenders, and lifetime ban for second offenders. Yet, this only after Rice was handed his 2 game suspension and the media attention surrounding this matter. The NFL and Rice need to do better!!!
