Last night, HBO released the anticipated mini documentary series, Offseason with Kevin  Durant. Kevin Durant, for those of you who do not know him, is a NBA player for the Oklahoma City Thunder, and least NBA season's MVP. He is embarking on his 8 year in the NBA and is on quest to win a championship and become the NBA's top dog. However, he already has some competition with LeBron James, star of the Cleveland Cavaliers and is the current face of the NBA and 2-time NBA champion, 4-time MVP etc.  The first episode of the series shows Kevin and where he grew up, outside of the DC area such as myself , in Prince Georges County and parts of Montgomery County, MD. Kevin talks about the environment he grew up in, and how basketball was his true passion in life at an early age. We the audience are introduced to his family and friends who know Kevin before the fame. Next, the series, shows the maturation of Kevin Durant in the NBA and where he is now, from losing an NBA Finals against LeBron James 3 years ago. Being the 2nd pick in the 2007 NBA draft and now after winning the MVP, Kevin is poised to win a championship. He now has basketball camps , playing for Team USA men's basketball for 7 years, winning 2 Olympics but Kevin has somewhat of a setback.  He fractured his foot in training camp for the Thunder a couple weeks ago and is expected to miss the first two months of the season.  In addition, the Thunder's second best player and friend of Durant's Russell Westbrook, fractured his hand in this year's season opener against the Clippers and will miss about two months as well. So, only time will tell if Kevin Durant, fully healthy, can lead his team to a title and win in the future. For now, we the fans must wait and be patient.
