Boyhood Review

A film that was 12 years in the making, but worth the wait. Boyhood, directed by Richard Linkater , entails the the trials and tribulations centered around a boy named Mason, who is the son of divorced parents , living in urban Houston, Texas. Mason tries to make sense of his life, as he witness the struggles his mother, a single parent, goes through she tries to raise he and his sister , while attempting to finish her college education. He also longs for a stronger relationship and connection with his father, an aspiring musician. However, over the time, Mason moves all throughout Texas, his mother finally gets her education and becomes a professor. His father, turns around and gets a steady job as an insurance agent and is more prevalent and he and his sister's life. Yet, Mason deals with the other factors such as moving from city to city in Texas, especially being the "new kid" in school, dealing with his mother's slew of abusive ex-husbands. Mason doesn't see the purpose of school, but is extremely talented in photography and his talent somewhat serves as a escape from all of his personal dilemmas. It's what keeps him going and he finds himself in college due to his artistic talents. Mason begins to learn the stages of early adulthood and becoming a man. The film is absolutely incredible and I implore everyone to see this film while it is still in theaters. It is one of the best movies this summer and potentially, this upcoming year for film.  Boyhood : 5 Stars!!!
