NBA Star Steve Nash Announces Retirement

Now, former Mavs, Suns and Lakers Point Guard, announced his retirement from the NBA after 19 seasons. Nash was a great player and put up some historic numbers. He is a 2-time MVP from 2004-2006, with the Phoenix Suns. In addition, Nash is 3rd, in all-time assists, with over 10,000 for his career. Nash was a great player, representing Canada and paving the way for Canadian basketball players in the NBA, such as Andrew Wiggins, Thristian Thompson, etc. Although, towards the last 2 years in the league with the Los Angeles Lakers, Nash was plagued with injuries and never played a full season with the Lakers.  Here's his statement according  to ESPN, " My time playing this game has been incredible. I played on some great teams-- had a lot of success--and I just wasn't able to get over the hump a few times. I simply want people to remember me as a competitor and great teammate. That's it." As do I, and many other basketball fans want to remember the great Steve Nash as a great player and contributor to the NBA. You will be missed next season Mr. Nash, Happy Retirement!

Well folks, it is all over! A new NCAA Basketball Champ is crowned and that team is Duke Unviersity. Coack K and his Blue Devils capture their 5th national championship under the leadership of Senior Guard Quinn Cook from the DC area such as myself, and excellent freshman play of Tyus Jones, Justice Winslow an potential NBA #1 pick in the 2015 draft , Jahlil Okafor. Duke went up against a Wisconsin team that was coming off from defeating an undefeated Kentucky team and with their play under National Player of the Year, Frank Kaminski and Sam Decker. However, Wisconsin struggled throughout the game at the free throw line at 60% versus Duke's team percentage of  80%.  In addition, Wisconsin's shooting overall was less than satisfactory with 41% from the field and Duke nearly made half of all of their shots with 47%.  As for the defensive side of the ball, Duke handled Wisconsin with 6 blocks and 4 steals. "White Elephants" Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel Segment

After watching the latest episode of HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, a segment that intrigued me the most was called "White Elephants". As Brazil prepares for the World Cup next month and the Olympics in about 18 months, they have undergone extreme construction of its stadiums and athletic facilities . However, where is all of this money coming from, since they Brazilian government isn't known as an economic powerhouse? Also, what will happen to these stadiums once the World Cup and Olympics are over? What will most likely happen is that the facilities will not be used and they will deteriorate over time. The citizens of Brazil will suffer more socio-economic hardship and the money used to build the stadiums will have practically been a waste. This is called a White Elephant.  Also, White Elephants have occurred in the past, with the 2004 Olympic Games in Greece, their stadiums now are not used and their economy has suffered as a result of funding for the games....

LeBron Back in Clevland ?

When reporters asked Lebron James about his feelings towards the Cavs, he didnt say that we will not reurn. After his televised free agent signing , The Decision, he seemed as if he was the villain in betraying his home of Ohio and fanbase in Clevland for seven years. Lebron dominated when arriving in Clevland and taking them to A finals apperance in 2007 and a perential playoff team. His fans has have had hostility towards him over the past year and I think he neeeds a break . He reached the finals last year and did not show any signs of lackluster play , so left LeBron win a couple rings with buds Wade and Bosh and come to Clevland as the hometown hero.
